Rackets’ US Open 2023 Betting Guide

Starts Monday, August 28, 2023.

Men’s:

Novak Djokovic +125

Nothing new here, as Novak goes for his 24th Grand Slam. I really only see this tournament as a two-horse race. I assume the Final is going to be against Alcaraz, and if it is anything like the Final was in Cincy a few weeks ago, there should be fireworks. These two are really evenly matched, but I don’t see Novak losing here.

Carlos Alcaraz +190

These are basically the only two that should be bet on the men’s side. You could make a case that Carlos played better than Novak a couple weeks ago in Cincy, but when push comes to shove, I have to side with the Greatest to ever do it. I like Carlos as more of a hedge than anything, but he absolutely has what it takes to win the whole thing.

Women’s:

Elena Rybakina +850

Ryba is a former Grand Slam Champion, and has the type of game needed to beat Iga. She can hit power to the corners, and keep Iga on the move. Her road will be slightly difficult, but I like her to at least come out of her Quarter.

Aryna Sabalenka +475

As I said above, there are only a few women who possess the type of game needed to beat Iga. Saba absolutely has that game, and she knows how to use it. She dismantled her at the Australian Open, and can do so again in New York City. She has not played much since Wimbledon, but her Hard Court game is one of the very best in the world, and if she survives the first few rounds and gets her legs back under her, I think she can make a deep run.

Ons Jabeur +2500

Ons is the absolute best all-court player on the Women’s tour. This price for her is completely insane to me. She was a Finalist here in this same tournament just a year ago. She lost to Iga in straight sets, but the price on her last year was right around the same as it is this year. She continually gets no respect.

Jessica Pegula +1000

At first the price on her looked crazy low to me. I would have expected her to be around +1600ish. Then I dug in a little bit. She has had insane success against Iga, mostly due to her flat forehands. They do not give a lot of reaction time, and Iga has a difficult time timing them. She is 4-3 against Iga head to head, and while that doesn’t seem all that great, you have to consider Iga has a career record of 266-64. Jessi has a great chance in that matchup, and for that reason alone, she makes the list.
