Price’s 2023 PGA Fortinet Championship DraftKings Plays

Price's PGA DFS Breakdown

Price’s 2023 PGA Fortinet Championship DFS Breakdown:

After a long break of two weeks after the Tour Championship, we are kicking off the fall swing with The Fortinet, aka the Max Homa championship. Max has won back to back years, and returns to defend his title. West coast golf means they’re teeing off during our lunch breaks, rounds don’t end until 9pm and they’ll be on Poa greens, which tend to mess with people who are from the east coast. In these fields, usually only a handful of big names tee off, while most rest up for the congested schedule starting in January, but this week we have Homa and JT in prep mode for the Ryder Cup. Of late, we typically see a winning score around the -18 mark here. All prices listed are for DraftKings.

$10K+:

  • Homa: $11,000 – Has won here back to back years, and rates second overall in the stat model. Whether or not to play him comes down to this: do you want to eat the chalk as the field’s highest-owned guy or hope he doesn’t pay off the salary?
  • Davis: $10,100 – Rates third for me in stats, has missed the cut two times here, but finished 17th in his debut. One of the most talented players in the field and can score DK points like crazy.
  • GPP plays: Jaeger

$9K+:

  • Theegala: $9800 – Theegala has been knocking on the door on the west coast events, and has solid history here. He rates 14th in stats, but I think we see him break through this week.
  • Cole: $9500 – Cole rates fifth in stats for me, had an incredible season last year to secure his spot in the elevated events, and is playing to keep the form and try to win some money this fall.
  • Putnam : $9100 – Putnam has been near the top of the leaderboard here a few times and rates out 10th overall in stats for me this week. His game fits this style of golf course.
  • GPP Plays: Todd

$8K+:

This range is filled with my favorite plays this week.

  • Bhatia: $8700 – Akshay rates fourth in stats for me, and is a budding young star who has done well in alternate events, which the fall swing basically will be with the new schedule moving forward. Does everything well.
  • Reavie: $8500 – Chez has a few good finishes here and ended up rating out sixth in stats for me. His approach game is top of the field and he’s a great cash play.
  • Ghim: $8000 – The Ghim Reaper rates first for me in stats this week. He had elite form down the stretch of the season with his ball striking and approach, and we will ride him into the fall swing, where he should continue to thrive.
  • GPP Plays: Suh, Hubbard, Streelman

$7K+:

The $7k range is where the winning lineups will differentiate themselves.

  • Kuest: $7900 – Kuest will be a regular in the fall swing write ups. He was elite in college and hit the tour running the last few weeks with some made cuts. He rates 28th for me in stats.
  • Wu: $7600 – Dylan rates 15th in stats for me, has been gaining strokes crazy with the putter while still gaining on approach. He tends to either finish top 30 or miss the cut, so he is a little volatile.
  • Ryder: $7600 – Ryder is my favorite play in this range, solid history here and finished the season gaining over four strokes versus the field on approach. Rates 20th for me overall.
  • Lashley: $7400 – Nate the great rates eighth for me this week in stats. He has solid history here and made his last four cuts in a row to finish the season while not losing strokes to the field in any metric.
  • Hoffman: $7300 – If his putter can just be mediocre, he will T20. His approach play is elite, and he has a couple top 25’s here that help his rating, finishing 12th for me in stats this week.
  • GPP Plays: Eckroat, Pendrith, Bez, Hadley, Palmer, Yu, Sigg, Lipsky, Tarren, Ramey, Baddeley, Gerard

$6K+:

This is the price range you expect most of the missed cuts to come from, you’ve just got to hope that if you use anyone here, he makes the cut and can finish top 40. These are not guys you play in 50%+ of your lineups if you run 10 lineups.

  • Piercy: $6900- Not a sexy play, but a guy who rates 32nd in stats and has a couple top-11 finishes here.
  • Blair: $6800- Blair rates 38th this week, was in contention last year here, and saves on salary.
  • Kodaira: $6500 – Boom or bust play, he rates 22nd in metrics, but is 0/1 making the cut here.
  • GPP Darts: Goya, Chappell, Cone, Roy, Kraft, Summerhays

Core 3 For The Week If:

  • doing stars and scrubs – Homa, Theegala, Blair
  • doing balanced build – Todd, Reavie, Ghim
