Healy’s Daily MLB DraftKings Plays – 8/29/23

Healy's MLB DFS Breakdown

Healy’s MLB Daily Fantasy Intro:

Excited to bring my MLB GPP cheatsheet back to the team at 4DEEP, where we will look to build upon all of our past success. Today, I’ll be covering the main slate beginning at 7:05pm. If you’re not familiar with this piece, it will be broken down into the following three sections. A cheat sheet with three tiers of players (each pricing tier is based on DraftKings positions/pricing and includes my preferred cash plays from each position), my favorite stacks to target and which players in said stacks I prefer, and lastly, my “Today’s Edge” section, which covers my edge play/fade of the slate, top HR picks, and the players I expect to be the top performers.

Cheatsheet:

I’m here to give you the players to consider for your 8/29/23 MLB GPPs. This isn’t a list of every player I will have, but rather the top guys I am including in my stacks/core, whether it be as a matchup-based play, ownership-based play, or even a leverage play, they will all be included in this core list.

$ Tier SP C 1B 2B 3B SS OF
Top Tier Justin Steele Mitch Garver Matt Olson Marcus Semien Austin Riley Corey Seager Acuna/Tatis
Mid Tier Gavin Williams Luis Campusano Justin Turner Nolan Gorman Manny Machado X. Bogaerts Duvall/O’Neill/Burleson
Value Tier Cole Ragans Reese McGuire Garrett Cooper Luis Urias Ezeq Duran Gab Arias Rafaela/Laureano

Pitching Pool:

  • Justin Steele – CHC vs. MIL – DK: $9.5k / FD: $10.6k
  • Gavin Williams – CLE @ MIN – DK: $8.6k / FD: $8.3k
  • Dean Kremer – BAL vs. CWS – DK: $7.7k / FD: $8.8k
  • Alex Cobb – SF vs. CIN – DK: $6.8k / FD: $7.9k
  • Brandon Williamson – CIN @ SF – DK: $6.5k / FD: $7.3k
  • Cole Ragans – KC vs. PIT – DK: $6.8k / FD: $6.6k

Stacks:

  1. Braves: Optimal build with Braves is with Cobb/Ragans, so in Braves builds there are other SP pairings to use to get different. All 1-9 firmly in play yet again, with several cheap SP options. The speed of Acuna is a cheat code in this massive outfield, he is the top play again followed by Rosario, Albies, and Olson.
  2. Red Sox: Naturally, folks will immediately load up on the LHH vs. RHP JP France, however, he has shown pretty solid reverse splits. For me, I’d still work to get Devers into stacks while Turner, Duvall, and Story would be my priorities.
  3. Padres: Here we go again. We must have a short memory with DFS. The Padres let us down in a big way last night, but here were are, going back to the well. A few ways to go here, you can use them as a Braves pivot and use the top 5 bats and/or utilize them as a compliment mini stack using 6-9. Machado and Bogaerts are my favorite bats.
  4. Rangers: Another offense that has a chance to outscore the mighty Braves. 1-7 is who I’m focused on vs. Quintana, who has regression coming his way. This set of Rangers thrive vs. his sinker (top used pitched). Duran, Semien, and Garver are my favorites, followed by Seager and Garcia.

Today’s Edge:

  • Home Run Predictions:
    • Manny Machado
    • Adam Duvall
  • Highest Scoring Hitter: Acuna
  • Highest Scoring Pitcher: Justin Steele
  • Top Value Play: Garrett Cooper
  • Player to Fade: Ryan Mountcastle
  • Slate Edge: Mitch Garver
