Ben’s 8/20/23 MLB Breakdown

What’s up, 4Deep!? We have a nice nine-game slate on our hands with plenty of good stacks and ways to get different. Only a few pitchers look safe to me.

PITCHERS

Max Scherzer DK $11,000 – I’m fine with Max as he probably has the best floor/ceiling combo on the slate. But, can you afford him? Lots of good bats to spend up on.
Max Fried DK $9,900 – Fried has done nothing but let me down this season, but the upside is still there. Especially against this Giants lineup. I’m considering using him as my SP1 over Max.
Logan Allen DK $8,800 – Love Allen today against the Tigers who we’ve actually not been picking on a whole lot lately. But he has huge upside in this matchup, I do wish the Tigers had a few more lefties in the lineup but the bottom of the order doesn’t bother me.
Hyun Jin Ryu DK $7,300 – Looked really good in his last start and I always prefer lefties against the Reds. This price is great for Ryu and he should come in low-owned. One of my favorite GPP plays of the slate.
Honorable Mention: Bido

STACKS

Astros – Hancock is a decent pitcher, at best, and pitched well against a struggling Padres lineup. Well, the Astros are a different beast and should have no problem in this matchup. 1-9 all in play with Altuve, Alvarez, Diaz, and McCormick being my favorites (downgrade them a little with no Tucker in the lineup).
Braves – Always in play, but I do prefer the righties here like Acuna, Riley, Murphy, and Arcia. The hard part is going to be choosing your fifth guy in your stack and 1-9 are all in play.
Pirates – I know this Pirate lineup hasn’t been good, but I truly don’t believe Keuchel is a major league pitcher, so I’ll continue to stack against him. 1-7 look the best here, with Hayes, Joe, Reynolds, and Davis being my favorites.
Rangers – LOVE this Ranger lineup today and 1-9 are always all in play. But guys like Seager, Garcia, Lowe, Martinez, and Duran are who I want in my stack.
