Healy’s Daily MLB DraftKings Plays – 8/30/23 (Early)

Healy's MLB DFS Breakdown

Healy’s MLB Daily Fantasy Intro:

Excited to bring my MLB GPP cheatsheet back to the team at 4DEEP, where we will look to build upon all of our past success. Today, I’ll be covering the main slate beginning at 1:05pm. If you’re not familiar with this piece, it will be broken down into the following three sections. A cheat sheet with three tiers of players (each pricing tier is based on DraftKings positions/pricing and includes my preferred cash plays from each position), my favorite stacks to target and which players in said stacks I prefer, and lastly, my “Today’s Edge” section, which covers my edge play/fade of the slate, top HR picks, and the players I expect to be the top performers.

Cheatsheet:

I’m here to give you the players to consider for your 8/30/23 MLB GPPs. This isn’t a list of every player I will have, but rather the top guys I am including in my stacks/core, whether it be as a matchup-based play, ownership-based play, or even a leverage play, they will all be included in this core list.

$ Tier SP C 1B 2B 3B SS OF
Top Tier Bryce Miller Gary Sanchez Bryce Harper Bryson Stott Manny Machado Trea Turner Yordong/Tucker/Tatis
Mid Tier Kyle Gibson Pat Bailey Garrett Cooper Whit Merrifield Eugenio Suarez X. Bogaerts Haniger/Brantley
Value Tier Chris Sanchez Bo Naylor Jon Singleton Tom Edman JD Davis Santiago Espinal Meckler/Rojas

Pitching Pool:

Note: The nine-game DraftKings early slate is split into five- and four-game slates on FanDuel.

  • Bryce Miller – SEA vs. OAK – DK: $9.1k / FD: $8.5k
  • Kyle Gibson – BAL vs. CWS – DK: $7.8k / FD: $8.7k
  • Chris Sanchez – PHI vs. LAA – DK: $7.4k / FD: $8.3k

Stacks:

  1. Phillies: It’s a shame they have been off the main slate most of the month because we would have been on them every damn day. Today’s our chance, facing off with Detmers, who has shown reverse splits. Stott and Harper are my favorites, but honestly, everyone but Schwarber profile extremely well vs. Detmers’ slider (31% usage). Kyle is still playable if building multiple Phils stacks, but I’m leaving him off my main builds.
  2. Padres: Third time’s a charm, right? They continue to profile well, get endless runners on base, and shit themselves to produce timely hits. We’re looking for that to change today vs. Mikolas. I’m interested in all the bats, aside from the powerless Kim and Carpenter. Machado, Tatis, and Cooper are my preferred, followed by Soto , X. and Gary.
  3. Giants: Facing off with a reeling Hunter Greene, who continues to work his way back. Primarily a two-pitch pony (FB/SL), if he isn’t laser-sharp, he will continue to be punished. Haniger, Bailey, and Estrada are the best vs. Greene’s slider, while Wade, Joc, and DeJong are secondary options.
  4. Astros: Scary spot for Kutter Crawford, who has been ‘OK’ vs. RHH, but struggled mightily to LHH. The Astros look to finally add a fourth LHH into the lineup with Mike Brantley returning, along with the power of Yordong, Tucker, and Singleton. McCormick would be the first RHH I’d look to here.

Today’s Edge:

  • Home Run Predictions:
    • Bryson Stott
    • Fernando Tatis
  • Highest Scoring Hitter: Bryce Harper
  • Highest Scoring Pitcher: Bryce Miller
  • Top Value Play: Mike Brantley
  • Player to Fade: Danny Jansen
  • Slate Edge: Manny Machado
