Healy’s 8/7/23 MLB Breakdown

Healy's MLB DFS Breakdown

Intro:
Excited to bring my MLB GPP cheatsheet back to the team at 4DEEP, where we will look to build upon all of our past success. Today, I’ll be covering the main slate beginning at 7:05pm. If you’re not familiar with this piece, it will be broken down into the following three sections. A cheat sheet with three tiers of players (each pricing tier is based on DraftKings positions/pricing and includes my preferred cash plays from each position), my favorite stacks to target and which players in said stacks I prefer, and lastly, my “Today’s Edge” section, which covers my edge play/fade of the slate, top HR picks, and the players I expect to be the top performers.

Cheatsheet:
I’m here to give you the players to consider for your 8/7/23 MLB GPPs. This isn’t a list of every player I will have, but rather the top guys I am including in my stacks/core, whether it be as a matchup-based play, ownership-based play, or even a leverage play, they will all be included in this core list.

$ Tier SP C 1B 2B 3B SS OF
Top Tier Spence Strider W. Contreras Cody Bellinger Justin Turner Jose Ramirez Dan Swanson Acuna/Robert
Mid Tier Fred Peralta Pat Bailey Carlos Santana Andres Gimenez Jeimer Candelario Gabriel Arias Yoshi/Frelick
Value Tier Drew Smyly Dave Fry Wilmer Flores Brice Turang Brian Anderson Pablo Reyes Happ/Varsho/Gonzalez

Pitching Pool:

  • Spencer Strider – ATL @ PIT
  • Fred Peralta – MIL vs. COL
  • Brayan Bello – BOS vs. KC
  • Drew Smyly – CHC @ NYM

Stacks:

  1. Brewers: If you are willing to leave Christian Yelich off your Beers stacks, they offer a great mix of value and upside, which will allow you to spend up on SP and still feel good about your build. Brian Anderson is my favorite value bat, while Frelick and Contreras are preferred bats to build around.
  2. Cubs: Not only are they one of the hottest teams in baseball, they also profile extremely well vs. Senga’s primary pitch (Cutter). 1-8 all in play, with Happ and Swanson being my favorites.
  3. Red Sox: Outside of Duvall and Wong, the Red Sox’s projected lineup comes in with a very low K rate in the split, and if young Cole Ragans isn’t striking out bats, he is wild while allowing tons of HH fly balls. Turner, Devers, and Yoshi are preferred, while 1-7 are all in play.
  4. Guardians: Understanding there isn’t much POP in this lineup outside of Jose Ramirez, they allow you to win the slate with SP and will need to dink and dunk their way to 12-15 fpts each. Fry and Gonzalez are my preferred options to build around.

Today’s Edge:

  • Home Run Predictions:
    • Sam Frelick
    • Cody Bellinger
  • Highest Scoring Hitter: Ron Acuna
  • Highest Scoring Pitcher: Spence Strider
  • Top Value Play: Ian Happ
  • Player to Fade: Mitch Garver
  • Slate Edge: Brian Anderson
