Healy’s 8/4/23 MLB Breakdown

Healy's MLB DFS Breakdown

Intro:
Excited to bring my MLB GPP cheatsheet back to the team at 4DEEP, where we will look to build upon all of our past success. Today, I’ll be covering the main slate beginning at 7:05pm. If you’re not familiar with this piece, it will be broken down into the following three sections. A cheat sheet with three tiers of players (each pricing tier is based on DraftKings positions/pricing and includes my preferred cash plays from each position), my favorite stacks to target and which players in said stacks I prefer, and lastly, my “Today’s Edge” section, which covers my edge play/fade of the slate, top HR picks, and the players I expect to be the top performers.

Cheatsheet:
I’m here to give you the players to consider for your 8/4/23 MLB GPPs. This isn’t a list of every player I will have, but rather the top guys I am including in my stacks/core, whether it be as a matchup-based play, ownership-based play, or even a leverage play, they will all be included in this core list.

$ Tier SP C 1B 2B 3B SS OF
Top Tier Aaron Nola JT Realmuto Paul Goldy Ketel Marte Alex Bregman Gunnar Henderson Yordong/Carroll
Mid Tier Merrill Kelly Elias Diaz Christian Walker Bryson Stott Alec Bohm Geraldo Perdomo Castellanos/Nootbaar
Value Tier Colin Rea W. Contreras Jose Abreu Nolan Gorman Jace Peterson Tom Edman McCormick/Gurriel/Marsh

Pitching Pool:

  • Aaron Nola – PHI vs. KC
  • Merrill Kelly – ARI @ MIN
  • Reid Detmers – LAA vs. SEA
  • Colin Rea – MIL vs. PIT

Stacks:

  1. Cardinals: Ever since Flexen returned from KBO, he just hasn’t been any good. He throws 4-5 pitches at a low percentage, but his primary cutter is ripe for this Cards’ lineup. Nootbar, Goldy, Gorman, and Edman look incredible. Honestly, the remaining bats look very strong as well, making this a full 1-9 stack spot.
  2. Phillies: It’s been a long time since my beloved Phils have made the top stack list, but tonight’s matchup vs. Jordan Lyles is juicy. It’s hard to differentiate 1-7, so I plan to mix and match while Casty and Stott will be who are featured in most of my Philly stacks!
  3. Astros: Small letdown last night, but it won’t stop us from going back tonight vs. Luis Severino. Sev has been the server of dongs all damn year, making nearly all these Astros viable. Yordan is the clear top play, with Tuck, while Chas McCormick and Altuve are the secondary options to consider.
  4. Diamondbacks: Taking on Aber’s boy Bailey Ober, we should get little to no ownership on the Snakes, yet several bats profile well tonight. Carroll, Perdomo, Walker, and Pham look best while 1-9 are all in play around the key bats.

Today’s Edge:

  • Home Run Predictions:
    • Nolan Gorman
    • Nick Castellanos
  • Highest Scoring Hitter: Paul Goldschmidt
  • Highest Scoring Pitcher: Aaron Nola
  • Top Value Play: Tom Edman
  • Player to Fade: Jake Bauers
  • Slate Edge: Nolan Gorman
