Healy’s 8/3/23 MLB Main Slate Breakdown

Healy's MLB DFS Breakdown

Intro:
Excited to bring my MLB GPP cheatsheet back to the team at 4DEEP, where we will look to build upon all of our past success. Today, I’ll be covering the main slate beginning at 7:05pm. If you’re not familiar with this piece, it will be broken down into the following three sections. A cheat sheet with three tiers of players (each pricing tier is based on DraftKings positions/pricing and includes my preferred cash plays from each position), my favorite stacks to target and which players in said stacks I prefer, and lastly, my “Today’s Edge” section, which covers my edge play/fade of the slate, top HR picks, and the players I expect to be the top performers.

Cheatsheet:
I’m here to give you the players to consider for your 8/3/23 MLB GPPs. This isn’t a list of every player I will have, but rather the top guys I am including in my stacks/core, whether it be as a matchup-based play, ownership-based play, or even a leverage play, they will all be included in this core list.

$ Tier SP C 1B 2B 3B SS OF
Top Tier Shohei Ohtani Will Smith Cody Bellinger Jose Altuve Elly Cruz Matt McLain Yordong/Tucker
Mid Tier Cris Javier Yan Gomes Joey Votto Chris Morel Alex Bregman Dansby Swanson Reynolds/Friedl
Value Tier Bryan Woo Endy Rodriguez Alec Burleson Liover Peguero Ke’Bryan Hayes Amed Rosario Suwinski/Happ/Benson

Pitching Pool:

  • Shohei Ohtani
  • Cristian Javier
  • Bryan Woo

Stacks:

  1. Pirates: Strong leverage spot vs. a very cheap Adrian Houser, who should gain some traction as a pairing with Ohtani. Bucco LHH set up very well in this park upgrade for them. Reynolds and Suwinski lead the way, while cheap FB hitters Rodriguez, Rivas, and Williams are all great value options.
  2. Astros: Another strong leverage spot at modest ownership. Yordong and Tucker are both on red alert in this ballpark vs. an SP who serves it up to lefties. After them, you can look to Breg and McCormick, both profiling well vs. the pitch mix. 1-8 all in play, but don’t skip the lefties!
  3. Reds: Strong lean to the LHH vs. Taillon, who has been very solid vs. RHH, so I’ll look to keep exposure to one of them in any Reds stacks. Votto is preferred, then Friedl.
  4. Reds: Not only is this offense red hot, they also get an elite match vs. Luke Weaver, who has a measly 15% K rate, while allowing a boatload of dongs (that is a lot of dongs). 1-9 all in play. Swanson and Morel are my favorites if picking two.

Today’s Edge:

  • Home Run Predictions:
    • Yordong Alvarez
    • Joey Votto
  • Highest Scoring Hitter: Bryan Reynolds
  • Highest Scoring Pitcher: Shohei Ohtani
  • Top Value Play: Suwinski
  • Player to Fade: Ryan Jeffers
  • Slate Edge: Kyle Tucker
