Healy’s 8/2/23 MLB Main Slate Breakdown

Healy's MLB DFS Breakdown

Intro:
Excited to bring my MLB GPP cheatsheet back to the team at 4DEEP, where we will look to build upon all of our past success. Today, I’ll be covering the main slate beginning at 7:05pm. If you’re not familiar with this piece, it will be broken down into the following three sections. A cheat sheet with three tiers of players (each pricing tier is based on DraftKings positions/pricing and includes my preferred cash plays from each position), my favorite stacks to target and which players in said stacks I prefer, and lastly, my “Today’s Edge” section, which covers my edge play/fade of the slate, top HR picks, and the players I expect to be the top performers.

Cheatsheet:
I’m here to give you the players to consider for your 8/2/23 MLB GPPs. This isn’t a list of every player I will have, but rather the top guys I am including in my stacks/core, whether it be as a matchup-based play, ownership-based play, or even a leverage play, they will all be included in this core list.

Stacks:

  1. Twins: Dakota Hudson can’t miss bats, which mitigates the Twins’ massive K rates, and he no longer generates ground balls at a league average rate. This is the night the Twins win it all. 1-6, plus Gallo, is who I’m focused on. Grab the lube, this usually doesn’t end well.
  2. Giants: Facing a young fly ball pitcher, who will be prone to the long ball, stepping into the big leagues. Focusing on the power/fly ball hitters: Joc, Conforto, Bailey lead the way. Isan Diaz at the bottom has some value.
  3. Dodgers: Rinse and repeat last night’s right up facing another below average lefty, followed by a bad bullpen. Mookie is the top play, then I’d go towards the second half for a blend of value and upside with Taylor, Kike, etc.
  4. Reds: Tons of power in this Reds lineup nightly that brings the upside to win GPPs. The matchup vs. Smyly is juicy, not only for the preferred RHH, but Drew hasn’t been good to LHH, either. McLain is the top target, followed by Elly, CES, and Newman.

Today’s Edge:

  • Home Run Predictions:
    • Matt McLain
    • Joc Pederson
  • Highest Scoring Hitter: Mookie Betts
  • Highest Scoring Pitcher: Joe Ryan
  • Top Value Play: Max Kepler
  • Player to Fade: Francisco Lindor
  • Slate Edge: Matt Wallner
