ABER’s 8/2/23 MLB Breakdown

ABER's MLB Daily Fantasy Plays

What’s up, 4Deep?! Baseball is here and I’m ready to put us in the driver’s seat to hopefully take down some tournaments this year! First and foremost, baseball is the only sport that I consistently play multiple lineups. I HIGHLY recommend at least playing two lineups. Fading chalk in baseball is usually the key to taking down tournaments, but is not always the correct move. What I will be providing below is an in-depth breakdown of my top stacks of the night and I will always start with what I believe will be the chalk, followed with my favorite pitchers as well. Generally speaking, chalk is usually chalk because they are in a good spot and I will be telling you whether or not I agree with it. What I want though, is for you to understand what is chalk and then determine whether or not you want to play them! Now, let’s get to the fun part with a lot of numbers and all the pitch data you can handle!

Chalk Stack Of The Day

Chicago Cubs vs. Brandon Williamson (LH)
I don’t understand everyone’s constant need to stack against Williamson like he’s some kind of gas can. It seems like every five days the chalk is against him, and it makes no sense. He’s not good by any means, but he’s definitely salvageable, especially when he’s on the road and the opponent is the chalk Cubs. I’m out on this completely and have no interest in playing Cubs tonight. If you wanted to, I would definitely focus on the right handed bats.

Top Stacks Of The Day

San Francisco Giants vs. Slade Cecconi (RH)
Joc Pederson, Michael Conforto, LaMonte Wade, Blake Sabol. 1-9 firmly in play.

Toronto Blue Jays vs. Grayson Rodriguez (RH)
Brandon Belt, Vlad Guerrero, Whit Merrifield, Danny Jansen.

Baltimore Orioles vs. Yusei Kikuchi (LH)
Ryan Mountcastle, Adley Rutschman, Anthony Santander, Austin Hays. Jorge Mateo is extremely affordable, but he doesn’t profile well. He only has a ceiling because of his stolen base upside.

Top Spend Up Pitcher Of The Day

Gerrit Cole (RH) vs. Tampa Bay Rays
The high isn’t as intriguing as it seems, and I thought Cole would be a little sneaky, but unfortunately, he’s the chalk tonight. The other notable matchups I wanted to love on the surface were Senga and Ryan, but the K rates for the matchups just aren’t there, unlike the Rays, who have been striking out at the ninth-highest rate in the split since the beginning of July. On a short sample, I don’t really know if this is fool’s gold or not, but I always trust the process and that’s telling me the play at the top is to eat the chalk tonight.

Top Mid Tier Pitcher Of The Day

Kodai Senga (RH) vs. Kansas City Royals
The K rates with the Royals has been all over the place for the entire year, but one thing has stayed constant with them, they have been a really bad offense across the board. Senga is playable on both sites, but given the $300 difference in FanDuel, I prefer Cole, but given the ownership, I’m not opposed to the pivot. The Mets should be able to put Senga in line for the win as well.
