Intro:
Excited to bring my MLB GPP cheatsheet back to the team at 4DEEP, where we will look to build upon all of our past success. Today, I’ll be covering the main slate beginning at 7:05pm. If you’re not familiar with this piece, it will be broken down into the following three sections. A cheat sheet with three tiers of players (each pricing tier is based on DraftKings positions/pricing and includes my preferred cash plays from each position), my favorite stacks to target and which players in said stacks I prefer, and lastly, my “Today’s Edge” section, which covers my edge play/fade of the slate, top HR picks, and the players I expect to be the top performers.
Cheatsheet:
I’m here to give you the players to consider for your 8/11/23 MLB GPPs. This isn’t a list of every player I will have, but rather the top guys I am including in my stacks/core, whether it be as a matchup-based play, ownership-based play, or even a leverage play, they will all be included in this core list.
$ Tier | SP | C | 1B | 2B | 3B | SS | OF |
Top Tier | Luis Castillo | Sean Murphy | Matt Olson | Jose Altuve | Alex Bregman | Trea Turner | Soto/Bellinger/Tucker |
Mid Tier | Lance Lynn | JT Realmuto | Jeimer Candelario | Jake Cronenworth | Alec Bohm | Dansby Swanson | Castellanos/McCormick |
Value Tier | Johan Oviedo | Tyler Soderstrom | Jose Abreu | Rodolfo Castro | Ed Sosa | Jer Pena | Rosario/Tauchman/Wilson |
Pitching Pool:
- Luis Castillo – SEA vs. BAL – DK: $10k / FD: $10.6k
- Justin Verlander – HOU vs. LAA – DK: $9.4k / FD: $10.5k
- Lance Lynn – LAD vs. COL – DK: $8.9k / FD: $9.9k
- Johan Oviedo – PIT vs. CIN – DK: $7k / FD: $9.3k
Stacks:
- Phillies: The Fightins are fucking back! They get the corpse of Dallas Keuchel, who may have the lowest strikeout rate of all SP in the league. With that K concern of the Phillies eliminated, we are firing up 1-9 with Turner and Casty being the top plays and Weston Wilson being the slates top value!
- Astros: Similar to the Phils, this team is closing summer on a high note, with all their bats healthy and hitting. Detmers has been hit around by LHH all season and relies on his slider to neutralize hitters. The entire Astros team has an ISO > .200 vs. the pitch this season, with four ‘Stros over .350. Maldonado is the biggest K risk, but all others firmly in play. Tucker is by far my favorite, followed by Bregman and Pena.
- Cubs: Middling matchup tonight facing Berrios, who has shown he is beatable by LHH, all of which profile very well tonight with Bellinger and Candelario leading the way. 1-8 all in play but I’d make certain to get at least three LHH in your stacks. Madrigal and Hoerner did not profile particularly well.
- Padres: Despite underwhelming in the win/loss game, they still have a potent offense that remains top 10 in runs since the ASB. Soto and Cronenworth are on red alert to dong, making them staples in any Padres stack. Mixing around them Manny, X, Tatis.
- Braves: 1-5 and Rosario profile incredibly well. It’s the Braves, they are expensive, but if building a few lineups, I’d recommend playing them, as all but Acuna project to be sub-8% owned tonight.
Today’s Edge:
- Home Run Predictions:
- Nick Castellanos
- Juan Soto
- Highest Scoring Hitter: Kyle Tucker
- Highest Scoring Pitcher: Luis Castillo
- Top Value Play: Weston Wilson
- Player to Fade: Christian Yelich
- Slate Edge: Trea Turner!
