Dmar’s 2023 CFB Week 8 Daily Fantasy Intro:
What’s up, 4Deep?! Week 8 is here. Enjoy another great day of football and let’s take something down! Like always, I will be in Discord (@Dmar) to help assist you with your teams before lock, and on YouTube with The Ben Hancock from 10-11am EST on Saturday morning. Good luck, everyone!
UPDATES: Like clockwork Treveyon Henderson is out and Egbuka is unlikely to play.
Quarterbacks:
- Dillon Gabriel – Top dawg on this slate at the QB position. Has been fantastic this season, both on the ground and through the air. Add a plus matchup and he grades out as the top play of the slate. Plus, we get the revenge narrative.
- Bo Nix – Let me down last week in the big Washington matchup, and has yet to really flash the upside we saw last week. But he makes for a great, low-owned, GPP play against a Washington St. team that just got demolished by Arizona.
- Garrett Greene – The gunslinger Greene finds himself in a spot we saw Jason Bean break the slate against Oklahoma St. last week. Greene has flashed upside this year and does give us some rushing upside. Great price for the type of player he can be.
- Seth Henigan – Not always the prettiest, but he draws a great matchup, and with some injury concerns to their star RB Watson, he may be asked to do more than normal. Great game environment in this one.
- Kurtis Rourke – DK decided to throw us some MAC action on the main slate and Rourke has been a stud in the MAC world the past few seasons. He returned from injury this season and has had an up and down season, but this is a matchup he can take advantage of.
- Mike Wright – If we get word Wright is starting and Rogers is out, he makes for a good cheap play who gives us good mobility and is going up against an Arkansas team who hasn’t stopped any offense this season.
- GPP Mentions: Drew Allar, Kyle McCord, Jalen Milroe, Quinn Ewers, KJ Jefferson, John Rhys Plumlee
Running Backs:
- Braelon Allen – Great matchup and Wisconsin breaking in a new QB should lead to plenty of opportunities for Allen. But, he has only one game with over 20 carries, so I do have some concern with that. I think this could lead to some lower ownership than what he should be at. Jackson Acker has stepped into the backup role and could get extra run if Wisconsin is able to take care of business.
- Bucky Irving- Looked fantastic last week when we saw Oregon commit to Bucky being the lead back with Jordan James playing the complementary role. Both guys check in as good plays due to how poor this Washington St. run defense is.
- Treveyon Henderson – What a shit show this RB room has been the past couple years. Seems like every Saturday one of these backs, mainly Henderson, gets ruled out. But I’m a believer in Henderson’s talent and think as long as he starts, there is no concern about being limited. On paper, this Penn State defense looks elite and they very well may be good, but they have played not one above average offense this season, so I think all these Ohio St. plays have upside at low ownership.
- Jonathon Brooks – For his price/role/matchup, Brooks comes in as the top RB play on the slate. Has looked incredible, and as big favorites this is similar to Oregon, as both RBs are firmly in play. Cedric Baxter is the stud freshman who is in a spot they could get him, going especially if this game gets out of hand.
- Ollie Gordon – The chalk slate-breaker last week comes back this week and while he doesn’t get quite as good a matchup this week, his workload has been too good to ignore. Very safe play, but think I lean the fade in larger field GPPs.
- Jermaine Brown Jr – Might be my favorite RB play on the slate. Brown has been great this season and the Memphis run defense is one of the worst on the slate. Add in how favorable this game should be in fantasy, and he makes for a great play.
- Tawee Walker – With Barnes being sidelined, Walker has seen the majority of snaps and steps into a plus matchup against a bad UCF defense. Oklahoma should easily score 40 here and Walker is cheap enough to play, even with Gabriel.
- Sutton Smith – If Blake Watson is out, Sutton will be a very popular play at his price tag. Great game environment and Memphis always has good production from their backs and UAB has been poor against the run. If Watson is in, he makes for a great GPP play.
- Rashod Dubinion – With Sanders already ruled out, Dubinion stepped into the lead back role and looked good last week against a good Alabama run defense. This is an ugly game environment, but for the price, and the fact that Arkansas loves to force the run, he sets up nicely to have a good game.
- GPP Mentions: Darius Taylor, Sieh Bangura, Jo’Quavious Marks, CJ Donaldson, Jase McClellan, Jaylen Wright
Wide Receivers:
- Marvin Harrison Jr – I know he has been on the list every slate, but this might be the week I love him the most. Like I mentioned with Henderson earlier, this game is going to grade out terribly, which will lead to lower ownership. Harrison is unlike anything Penn State has seen; he played terribly last week and still had 25 points. He torched this team last season, and with Egubuka likely out again, he will be force fed in what will be a close game.
- Troy Franklin – If you don’t want to play Harrison, then Franklin is your guy. Continues to put up big games, and if this game stays competitive, he could nuke the slate.
- Jalil Farooq – Oklahoma started getting creative with ways to get Farooq the ball against Texas. If that continues to be the case, he will pop for some big games. He makes for the best pairing with Gabriel this week. But after that, we get some decent options in Drake Stoops, who continues to put up solid performances, and with Anthony out for the year, we should see an uptick in performance from guys like Nic Anderson and Jayden Gibson.
- Roc Taylor – One of the more impressive WRs I have watched this season. Great volume and a great game environment make him one of my favorite plays on the slate.
- Amare Thomas – Similar to Roc, he gets this good game environment, but with his QB Zeno in question, that downgrades him some. But he is still priced right and will get looks.
- Miles Cross – With most attention going to Sam Wigluzs, I will take a chance with the less expensive Cross. Cross has shown a good chemistry with Rourke and makes a good cheap pairing for the two.
- KeAndre Lambert-Smith – Purely a feel play as he grades out terribly. But Penn St. will have to get some chunk plays in this one in order to win and Allar should look for Lambert-Smith a lot in this one. A game stack of him and Marvin Harrison Jr could produce a lot of points and low ownership.
- Demeer Blankumsee – Back to back good games and the price is low. He should be fairly popular this week and gives you a piece of the most popular game.
- GPP Mentions: Xavier Worthy, Isaiah Williams, Joseph Manjack, Cade Stover, Will Pauling, Lideatrick Griffin, Ja’tavion Sanders
