TX’s NFL Week 1 Daily Fantasy Plays – (Afternoon Only)

TX's FanDuel NFL Daily Fantasy Plays

TX’s NFL DFS Afternoon Slate Plays – Week 1

5 PM Update 9/9: adding Geno Smith and JSN as valuable options. Looks like Stevenson could be ruled out that’s a nice boost to Zeke.

TX’s Favorite Stacks:

  • Chargers
  • Dolphins
  • Seahawks

TX’s Elite QBs:

  • Justin Herbert This game should be a shootout against the Dolphins. Herbert has a solid floor and ceiling and is at a decent price tag for us. The Dolphins allow 66% more fantasy points when they are on the road.
  • Justin Fields Without Rodgers, I think this game stays way more competitive than it has historically. Fields brings rushing and passing upside, which helps his floor and pumps his ceiling. This is another defense that allows more fantasy points when they are on the road.
  • Tua Tagovailoa I think this game stays competitive and becomes a shootout on both sides. I like the weapons Tua has, and I think we can see one of his better games. The Charger defense plays much better at home and that’s my only concern here.

TX’s Mid Tier QB:

  • Russell Wilson Until we know what we are going to get from him, I’m hesitant to rank him any higher. I think the match-up is in his favor and he finished the season strong. I’m just in a wait and see approach with him right now.
  • Matt Stafford I like the price tag here on Stafford. The Seahawks play much better at home, but I think this game is competitive and Stafford has always brought us a solid floor.

TX’s Door #3 QB:

  • Jalen Hurts I bet you’re wondering why arguably the best QB on the slate is my door #3? Well, it’s because he’s facing Belichick, and historically, he eliminates a team’s best weapon, so I’m just concerned with his upside here at the price tag. I think there are better options for the price and match-up, but Hurts is elite, and anything can happen. If it were any other match-up, he would be number #1.

TX’s Elite RBs:

  • Austin Ekeler – I expect this game to be high-scoring and Ekeler does it all. The price tag is heavy, so we need a solid game out of him, but he can get it done in a lot of ways.
  • Josh Jacobs He finally got paid, but overall, the offense is questionable with Jimmy G at the helm. I expect them to use a lot of Jacobs and he has one of the higher ceilings on the slate.
  • Aaron Jones With Rodgers gone, I think the offense runs through Jones. The main concern is Love and can he commit as  few mistakes as possible to keep the game close.

TX’s Mid Tier RBs:

  • D’Andre Swift  He’s sharing the backfield with Penny, not sure how it plays out just yet, but I think Swift is the more talented back, but it’s against the Patriots, and historically they are a good enough defense to limit ceiling games.
  • Kenneth Walker III  He’s coming off an injury, so we need to see the snap count, but he has home run running upside.
  • Raheem Mostert I think the Dolphins keep his carries low to try to limit the injuries because he can never stay healthy, but he can rip a big one off on any play.

TX’s Door #3 RBs:

  • Zeke Elliott  Sharing the backfield with Stevenson, but we know Bill likes to hammer the goal line and I think that’s why they brought Zeke in.
  • Rashad Penny Sharing the backfield with Walker. I expect him to get some carries and it wouldn’t surprise me if he gets more of the workload when it’s all over.

TX’s Elite WRs:

  • Tyreek Hill Elite upside in a game that should be a shootout. If you can bring him back with a Chargers’ stack, I think that’s a good move.
  • DK Metcalf – Facing the Rams without Ramsey. It’s the first game of the season at home, I would think he comes up big.
  • Keenan Allen – Target monster in a game that should go to the moon.

TX’s Mid Tier WRs:

  • Davante Adams – High price tag with a new QB in Jimmy G. Just not ideal, but is still in play.
  • Jaylen Waddle – He’s the more boom or bust play on this offense.
  • Mike Williams Same idea as Waddle, more boom or bust.
  • AJ Brown – I just don’t like the match-up against the Patriots, but it’s football and anything can happen and AJ is an absolute beast.

TX’s Door #3 WRs:

  • Tyler Lockett – Could pop for a huge game. He’s a tournament play only.
  • DJ Moore – He’s new to this offense with the Bears, but he’s talented and has a huge ceiling.
  • Courtland Sutton – Big red zone target for Wilson.

TX’s Elite TEs:

  • Dallas Goedert Nice red zone target for Hurts. I think the Patriots try to limit Hurts’ rushing in the red zone and Goedert gets some targets.
  • Gerald Everett – I like the game script for Everett and he should see some extra opportunities.

TX’s Mid Tier TEs:

  • Cole Kmet – Been a reliable target for Fields and that should continue.
  • Tyler Higbee – The Rams don’t have a lot of talent on offense and Higbee should continue where he left off last season.

TX’s Door #3 TEs:

  • Luke Musgrave – Deep value play in a game the Packers should be trailing in.

Defenses:

  • Bears – At home against Love, they should have plenty of opportunities for turnovers.
  • Broncos – At home against Jimmy G in a new offense.
  • Eagles – On the road, but the Patriot offense doesn’t scare me and the Eagles can generate pressure.
