Ranking Notes

QB

UP

Aaron Rodgers ⬆️ 9 Spots

I admittedly have been a bit short-sighted with Rodgers. He was terrible in 2022, but the more I dug into him, the more I understood it was a bit of a crackjaw mixed bag of bad luck. It was a mix of inexperience from his receiving group, bad luck, and injuries that hobbled Rodgers on his way to a QB26, 14.1 PPG finish in 2022. I’m still a tad behind ADP but I’m at least in the ballpark now rather than burying him.

DOWN

Brock Purdy ⬇️ 4 Spots

Brock has been atrocious and there is a growing possibility he loses the job to Trey Lance or he loses it in the middle of the season due to poor play. He turns the ball over at a high clip and takes sacks left and right. It was assumed, even though he had looked the worst, that it was the elite SF defense he was facing. However, during joint practices, he has been dogged by the terrible Raiders defense this week.

RB

UP ⬆️

Tony Pollard ⬆️ 2 Spots

Just as simple as wanting Pollard over Chubb and Taylor.

James Cook ⬆️ 8 Spots

It is becoming more clear by the day that it will be James Cook in the backfield with Harris and Murray spelling off of him on the less profitable downs. Down the stretch last year, from Weeks 13 through 18, Cook scored 16.5, 2.5, 11.9, 17.8, and 7.1. I’m willing to take a stab at Allen’s receiving back, and I won’t be able to do that if he is my RB38.

Tank Bigsby ⬆️ 14 Spots

Bigsby may be the most premium handcuff in all of fantasy football. I expect him to offer stand-alone value, getting all of the third-down work and goal-line work. He will be a thorn in Etienne’s side all year long.

DOWN ⬇️

Kenneth Walker ⬇️ 4 Spots

He is already banged up and I am liking Charbonnet more and more by the day.

Damien Harris ⬇️ 11 Spots

I expected Harris to get a lot of the early down work and viewed him as a FLEX. He may lose that role outright to 33-year old Latavius Murray.

WR

UP ⬆️

Christian Watson ⬆️ 7 Spots

This is a big jump, given he was already the WR25, and I am jumping him up aggressively above ADP to WR18. He has a higher ceiling than the WRs I moved him above, and I’m chasing that ceiling.

Quentin Johnston ⬆️ 10 Spots

Doing my tiers, I realized how much higher on Johnston I am than the market and how much I want that to show. It has been a wild ride this summer as I was completely against Johnston back in May, but here we are in August, and I’m all in. Never stop doing research.

Skyy Moore ⬆️ 9 Spots

This is a case where I’m buying the camp hype because it is confirming my prior thoughts. Staying ahead of the market.

Odell Beckham Jr. ⬆️ 9 Spots

This jump isn’t as drastic as it seems since it is from 54th overall to 45th overall. I am putting him above low-ceiling players such as Meyers, Gallup, Juju, Cooks, Metchie, Chark, and Van. OBJ can be a mainstay and offer consistent WR3 numbers this year.

Tank Dell ⬆️ A lot (Unranked to 51)

I removed Dell from my top 100 to make a statement and even mentioned in chat this week that I didn’t see Dell being a fantasy contributor this year but better for real-life football. The good thing is I have time to adjust before it is too late. Dell shined in the pre-season game, and up until now, I was under the impression John Metchie was the locked-in slot guy in Houston. I had an exchange with beat reporter and fantastic talent evaluator Lance Zierlein, and he said to pump the brakes on Metchie being locked in as the slot guy. No fault to Metchie, just that Dell has been that good at creating separation. If he can earn the slot role, I’m in.

DOWN ⬇️

DK Metcalf ⬇️ 6 Spots

I won’t have any shares of DK this year, and I want that obvious with his rankings. I’d rather wait and take Lockett or JSN.

F1 ⬇️ 4 Spots

I’m just not interested in McLaurin this year. I won’t miss out on much if I don’t draft him as there is practically no ceiling but there is a bottom to drop out, and he finishes as a low-end WR3. I’m not interested.

TE

UP ⬆️

Sam LaPorta/Dalton Kincaid ⬆️ 3 Spots

I’m moving this pair up three spots ahead of Dalton Schultz, Tyler Higbee, and Jake Ferguson. I do like those players, but I’m chasing the upside with the rookies. Those players will be there on the waiver wire if I need them.
