Price’s 2024 Waste Management Daily Fantasy Plays

Price’s 2024 Waste Management Open DFS Breakdown

This week they head out to Phoenix for the Waste Management Open, which is the most attended golf tournament of the year every single year. It is an awesome environment, unfortunately, it fell in between elevated events this year and the field is not as strong as we normally see. The weather should be fine once the tourney starts, but it has been raining there all week. It is a par 72, with a reachable par 4 on hole 17, and typically has run into a playoff over the last 10 years to determine the winner. Scottie Scheffer is the top player in the field and has won back to back years here, so it makes for an interesting game theory on if you are going to fade him or play the 40% owned, highest-priced golfer. I am going to fade him, and if it costs me, so be it, but I do not want to pay $1600 more for him than JT or $1800 more than Homa for the cost of needing a T3 finish. This should be a fun week as we have a lot of DFS darlings in the field, and a lot of guys with good course history.  All prices listed are for DraftKings.

$9K+:

  • Thomas – Elite history here, playing fantastic and saves me $1600 from Scheffler.
  • Homa – Has made five cuts in a row here, and in this field is the third favorite to win at only $9800.
  • Spieth – He has two top 6 finishes the last three years here. I am not normally a Spieth guy, but he looks good.
  • Theegala – Looked solid last week, finished third here two years ago, should be around 12% owned.
  • Clark – Is coming off a win last week, finished 10th here last year, course suits his style of play.

$7.5K+:

  • Poston – He is playing like a top 15 golfer in the world lately, and we get him at $8900. He has four top 20’s in a row coming in, and has a few top 26 finishes here the last three years.
  • An – Benny has been awesome to start the year, with multiple top 5’s and has a couple top 20’s here a few years ago.
  • Matsuyama – Mats was no good last week, but was elite at the Farmers. He has an amazing history here, including two wins.
  • Hadwin – Hadwin just loves these courses, has not missed the cut here in five years, and has good form coming in with a couple top 15’s in his last four.
  • Hossler – He is annoying to roster, but he has excellent form coming in with back to back top 14 finishes and finished 14th here last year in a much stronger event.
  • Noren – Has four top 26 finishes in his last five PGA events played, finished sixth here two years ago.
  • Bhatia – Making his debut, but he is strong OTT and putting stinks, which on this course, it seems those guys tend to win.
  • Harman – He has five made cuts here in a row, has not missed a cut since mid last year, and we get a major winner at a discounted price.

$6K+:

  • Hubbard – Can’t stop playing him now, he looked amazing last week and has four made cuts in a row coming in.
  • Yu – He will be somewhat popular because of his play over his last three events and he is from the area. He is a solid play at this price point.
  • Hoge – Has three good finishes here in the last five years, finished sixth at Pebble and has made four of five cuts coming in.
  • Kitayama – Finally am on him, finished 23rd here last year and has four made cuts in a row coming in.
  • Van Rooyen – EVR will be somewhat popular because he is averaging 90 DK points per tourney and is only $7100 with 11 of 12 made cuts coming in.
  • Griffin – He is a solid player, rates well, and has made six of his last seven cuts coming in.
  • Knapp – Kid is a beast off the tee, showed out at the Farmers, finishing 3rd. Good value play.
  • KH Lee – Traditionally a good first round play here, has three made cuts in a row here.
  • Cauley – Risky play, min priced, good history here.
