Healy’s Hints – 2023 NFL Week 1 Intro:
Excited to bring my NFL GPP content back to the team at 4DEEP, where we will look to build upon all of our previous success. This article will be covering the main slate for NFL Week 1 beginning Sunday at 1:00pm. If you’re not familiar with this piece, it will be broken down into the following three sections: A cheat sheet with three tiers of players (each pricing tier based on DK positions/pricing), my favorite stacks to target and which players in said stacks I prefer, and lastly, my “Today’s Edge” section, which covers my edge play/fade of the slate (will update ~2 hours prior to lock), top touchdown picks, and the player I will have the most exposure to on the slate across all my lineups.
Cheatsheet:
Players to consider for your week 1 NFL GPPs. This isn’t a list of every player I will have, but rather the top guys I am including in my stacks/core, whether it be as a matchup-based play, ownership-based play, or even a leverage play, they will all be included in this core list.

Mid Tier | Geno Smith | Khalil Herbert | Amari Cooper | Hunter Henry | Falcons |
Value Tier | Derek Carr | Brian Robinson | Drake London | Hayden Hurst | Browns |

Stacks:
A common roster construction I like to use in large-field tournaments is stacking a quarterback with one or two of his skill position (RB, WR, TE) teammates and playing one or two guys from the opposition. I plan to attack Week 1 no differently.
- My top overall stack is the Bengals @ Browns, while utilizing Deshaun Watson as my QB. I fully expect the Bengals to score, but there will also be some rust Burrow has to shake off getting back up to game speed. I’d expect a 2 INT, 2-3 TD game from him here. While on the other side, Watson checks in cheaper ($6k) and brings the rushing upside, providing him a solid 3-4 point floor. With a full offseason under his belt, along with a healthy stable of pass catchers, Watson is destined to come out of the gates strong. I’d rank his weapons as 1. Amari Cooper; 2. David Njoku; 3. Donovan Peoples-Jones; 4. Eliijah Moore (brutal matchup). In terms of run backs, if I have the salary it’s Chase, but Higgins is a strong secondary option. Irv Smith I’d reserve for large-field GPPs only.
- Other Stacks To Consider:
- Seahawks – Smith: Lockett / DK Metcalf / Jaxon Smith-Njigba
- Jaguars – Lawrence: Ridley / Engram / Kirk / Zay Jones
- Commanders – Howell: Dotson / McLaurin / Robinson / Gibson
Today’s Edge:
- Touchdown Predictions:
- Alexander Mattison
- Amari Cooper
- Top Owned Plays on Slate (based on exposure across all my lineups):
- QB – Deshaun Watson
- Skill Player – Deon Jackson
- Healy’s Slate Edge:
- Alexander Mattison
