Healy’s Daily MLB DraftKings Plays – 9/1/23

Healy's MLB DFS Breakdown

Healy’s MLB Daily Fantasy Intro:

Excited to bring my MLB GPP cheatsheet back to the team at 4DEEP, where we will look to build upon all of our past success. Today, I’ll be covering the main slate beginning at 7:05pm. If you’re not familiar with this piece, it will be broken down into the following three sections. A cheat sheet with three tiers of players (each pricing tier is based on DraftKings positions/pricing and includes my preferred cash plays from each position), my favorite stacks to target and which players in said stacks I prefer, and lastly, my “Today’s Edge” section, which covers my edge play/fade of the slate, top HR picks, and the players I expect to be the top performers.

Cheatsheet:

I’m here to give you the players to consider for your 9/1/23 MLB GPPs. This isn’t a list of every player I will have, but rather the top guys I am including in my stacks/core, whether it be as a matchup-based play, ownership-based play, or even a leverage play, they will all be included in this core list.

$ Tier SP C 1B 2B 3B SS OF
Top Tier Zack Wheeler Sean Murphy Christian Walker Ketel Marte Alex Bregman Gunnar Henderson Tucker/Mullins
Mid Tier Eury Perez Yainer Diaz Ryan O’Hearn Zach McKinstry Evan Longoria Jeremy Pena Ozuna/Carpenter
Value Tier JP Sears Maldong-ado Jose Abreu Ji Hwan Bae Buddy Kennedy Nick Ahmed Thompson/Pham

Pitching Pool:

Note: The nine-game DraftKings early slate is split into five- and four-game slates on FanDuel.

  • Max Scherzer – TEX vs. MIN – DK: $11k / FD: $11k
  • Zack Wheeler – PHI @ MIL – DK: $10.6k / FD: $10.8k
  • Eury Perez – MIA @ WAS – DK: $8.8k / FD: $9.6k
  • Pat Sandoval – LAA @ OAK – DK: $7.2k / FD: $9.2k
  • JP Sears – OAK vs. LAA – DK: $6.5k / FD: $7.6k

Stacks:

  1. Diamondbacks: At minimal ownership facing southpaw Cole Irvin, the D-backs fly to the top of my stack list tonight. Outside of Corbin Carroll, we should see eight RHH, several having huge upside. Buddy Kennedy in the two-hole at near minimum is the top value of the slate, while Walker and Longo are the top options. 1-9 all in play
  2. Astros: With Carlos Rodon continuing to reel, we will continue to attack him. The Astros are elite hitting LHP, particularly the FB/SL pitch mix which makes up nearly 90% of what Carlos throws. 1-9 are ALL in play, Maldongado included. 1-4 obviously are great plays and priced as such. I’m highest on Pena and Abreu for cheap.
  3. O’s: GAME STACK ALERT! Facing off with a below average RHP who Is extremely low strikeouts. The O’s have endless LHH that should find massive success, led by Gunnar and Ced Mullins as the building blocks, followed by O’Hearn and Hays
  4. Astros: Top leverage spot of the day with the Tigers facing off with Mr. Inconsistent himself, Touki Toussaint, who just so happens to be gaining steam throughout the day. Touki’s erratic 16% walk rate will lead to tons of baserunners, so we won’t need 5-6 HRs from the Tigers, rather 5-6 timely base knocks and we will quickly rise up the leaderboards. Carpenter, McKinstry, and Meadows are my favorites, while 1-3 are all firmly in play.
  5. Braves: Though their prices remain high, the Braves profile very well vs. a capable Urias. The RHH in particular (minus Pillar) project as strong plays. The heart of the lineuup with Ozuna, Murphy, and Arcia is my preferred starting pieces to build around.

Today’s Edge:

  • Home Run Predictions:
    • Kyle Tucker
    • Kerry Carpenter
  • Highest Scoring Hitter: Christian Walker
  • Highest Scoring Pitcher: Zack Wheeler
  • Top Value Play: Buddy Kennedy
  • Player to Fade: Whit Merrifield
  • Slate Edge: Alex Bregman
